Lover of God

  Jesus was asked by a lawyer of the Pharisees, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?  Our Lord's answer could have been anything involved with the Law of Moses, but His response was of something more powerful.  Jesus' reply was " Love your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: ' Love your neighbor as yourself.'  All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments."  Wow!  How powerful is our Lord's answer, and today the answer is the same to this question.  It makes me realize, that I must know that there is only one God in my life, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.  Also, the Lover of God must be in me to help me love God.  The Lover of God I am talking about is the Holy Spirit.

  Since I began walking with the Lord in 1969, my love for God has had to be cultivated, stirred up, made to increase, so that my love for God and especially for others will stay active.  So by staying active in loving the Lord, with the help of the Holy Ghost in me, I can identify God's love working through me to love and have an interest in people.  I know that there are many hindrances in this world that will make us want to slow down our prayer life, our devotion, our worship and in turn will affect our love life to God.  That is why Jesus gave this to us as our greatest commandment.  So this is something that we should always be brushing up on so that we can love as God loves.

  Paul prayed a prayer for the Ephesians in Ephesians 3:16-20 NIV.  It says " I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.  so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.  And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge---that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."  

  What a powerful and loving prayer that Paul prayed, and I ask why he would pray something like that for the Ephesian church? It was because he loved them.  Paul was one who was powered by the Holy Spirit and I believe he was rooted and established in love.  Paul was in it, he was committed to loving God as it says in Romans 8 :35 says NIV " Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?"

  Brethren the Cross of Jesus is the all powerful supreme evidence of the love of God for us, so let us love our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind and with all our strength. Let the Lover of God (Holy Spirit)  help us to do and obey this wonderful commandment of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  God Bless You today in his Word!

Prayer for France

     Heavenly Father, once again we are at your mercy.  We ask of you during this time for comfort and strength for the loss of 84 souls in France.  We know that we live in troubling times today, but many are not aware of these times.  Lord, we ask that the people of France will turn their hearts to you and learn to trust only in you.  This is also for the nations of the world, that they turn back to you and realize that there will never be peace without you reining in their lives.  Oh Lord, we desperately need your help and forgiveness. To you be the glory and honor and praise forever.  Amen.

     2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

Listen Up!

     You know that we have got to really be careful in what we hear nowadays.  I mean we've radios, tv, phones, computers etc. and more.  I like to play my records and listen to some good music, you young folks call them vinyl.  But what I am trying to get to you is not what your hear, which I hope is good, but how you hear.  Jesus says in the latter part of Luke 8 NIV "He who has ears to hear, let him hear".   We are not just talking about the many things we hear during the day but what is said through the Word of God.  Are we listening?

     I am sure by now that you have read the story of the parable of the sower.  The farmer went to sow seed, some fell by the way side, some upon the stony places, some seed fell among thorns and then some fell on good ground.  I pray that you, who are reading this blog, are the good hearts that are receptive to His Word.  Because if you are being blessed by what you hear and most of all understanding what is said, then we have a huge responsibility.  The responsibility is we must do what it says and share it with others.  Jesus says in Luke 8:16 NIV "no one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed.  Instead he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light".  It's wonderful to have the light of Jesus Christ shinning in our lives, but we also must be a light that shines before people.  Why?  So that they may see our good deeds and praise our Father in heaven.  Jesus says in Matthew 5:14 NIV "Ye are the light of the world.  A city on a hill cannot be hidden".  You see we are responsible to show what we know about God.

     There is an important part of this parable I believe that we miss or don't understand.  Look what Jesus says for us to do in Luke 8:18 NIV " Therefore consider carefully how you listen."  The King James version says to " Take heed therefore how you hear."  Now that we are saved , let us continue to listen carefully to what it says in the Word of God.  At the same time watch out for those things that will hinder our spiritual progress.  Don't get robbed or betrayed by  Satan's schemes and lies.  We have come so far, and gained so much from our Lord thus far, and we don't want to lose it.

     Jesus goes on to say that " Whoever has will be given more;."  You say more ofwhat?  Our Lord will give you more desire to hear, more understanding, more revelation, more blessings, how about more of Him.  Praise the Lord!  So don't stop, continue to progress in your sanctification, in your grace and knowledge, keep on doing and sharing the word with others.  Jesus is more than you will ever know.  I mean He is love, He is light, He is life, He is amazing!.  How can we not tell the world about Jesus.

     Jesus goes on to say in verse 18  NIV that " whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken away."  You know that what you think you have spiritually, you only seem to have.  Brethren, don't neglect, don't go easy or passive in what God gives to you.  Stay active in the word, let it continue to transform you by the renewing of your minds.  Engage and dot the word, just don't hear it.  James 1:22 says " Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves.  Do what It says."   

     Let me share with you in verse 21, which is powerful in  what Jesus says to us.  He says " My mother and brothers are those who hear God's word and put it into practice."  Wow! I mean, there it is, did you hear that?  Pay attention!  Shhhh!  Listen Up!   Jesus is talking.

Heartfelt prayer for Dallas

     Heavenly Father,  once again Lord we come to you for comfort and strength during this time of loss.  We humbly ask for your mighty strength and comfort to the wives and children who are without their husbands and fathers today.  We pray for every police officer who does not yet know you as Lord and Savior.   We  pray for their salvation and commitment to you.  Oh God please forgive us for straying away from you and heal our nation of broken and harden hearts. Help us to return to you for your blessings as children of the living God.  Thank you, in the name of Jesus we pray.  Amen!    

Psalm 70 NIV "Hasten, O God, to save me; O Lord, come quickly to help me. May those who seek my life be put to shame and confusion; may all who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace.  May those who say to me, Aha!  Aha! turn back because of their shame.  But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation always say, "Let God be exalted!"`  Yet I am poor and needy; come quickly to me, O God. You are my help and my deliverer; O Lord, do not delay."

Endure

     We are living in some pretty tough times today and some of us are probably thinking deep about throwing in the towel.  In the book of Hebrews there were some Jewish converts who tempted to revert to Judaism.  They were familiar with their old ways but were having problems in the new ways of Christ.  Hebrews 12:2 NIV says "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of  our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne if God." 

     As Christians, we are going to struggle against our oppositions.  It is part of the race that we run as believers.  Brothers and sisters we have come thus far with our Lord and there is no turning back to our old ways.  We shouldn't even dwell on that thought at all.  There is power in the blood of the Lamb Jesus Christ, who is worthy of our praise!  Hallelujah!

     Let us stay in the boat and keep rowing.  Don't drop anchor.  Look what verse 3 says "Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart."  Our Lord and Savior went all the way to the cross and shed His blood so that we could be free from the bondage of sin.  He paid the price for us and purchased us with His blood.  How can we just stop trusting? How can we just say that this journey is too hard?  When He set the example for us.  Consider our Lord, what He went through while He was on this earth.  He knows exactly what burdens, pains, hurts, habits and everything else we go through.  How does He know?  Because He was on earth and endured all this for us.  Praise God for evermore! 

     Our Lord didn't leave us alone.  He gave us the Holy Spirit to help along the way.  All of us will go through some discouraging times but we don't have to stay there.  You know that King David had to encourage himself in the Lord during some rough times of battle with the enemy.  1 Samuel 30:6  KJV "And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God."  This is just an example for us! So get encouraged, don't quit, stay in the race!

     James 1:12 NIV says "Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him." Why do I continue to trust God after 47 years of salvation?  Because I love Him. Why do I read, study and believe in His Word? Because I want life, not only in heaven for evermore, but I desire life while I'm in this earth, and life more abundantly through Jesus Christ.  My biggest reason is because Jesus really does love me!  He is LOVE!  Wow! How can you not love Him back?  People, you have got to stand, keep on praying , keep on studying, keep on loving, keep on attending church, just endure.   Galatians 5:1 NIV says " It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.  Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."  In other words don't get caught up or entangled in the old ways you came out of.  We left Egypt behind us and we are headed for Canaan, the promised land that flows with milk and honey.

Jesus says in Matthew 11:29-30 NIV "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."  Remember, we are not alone in this exciting journey because He also says in Matthew 28:20 NIV that He is with us always, to the very end of the age.  

     So what do you think?  You know the troubles,  our circumstances, the pain, the suffering, all that stuff may endure for the night but joy comes in the morning.  I said joy comes in the morning! The joy of the Lord is our strength! Man....that's deep.   Folks, our best is yet to come in Jesus Christ. Just wait and see.  Stay blessed and be strong in the Lord.  Praise God!

Let's pray.  Heavenly Father, we take this time to say we thank you, we adore you, we praise you, we lift up that name that is above any and all names, the name of Jesus.  We realize that we need you more than ever.  Help us to trust in you, we know you are more than able to keep us.   We cast all our cares upon you and we will rest in your love.  Help us not to worry or have fear, make us strong and bold in you.  Thank you for your grace that is sufficient all day for us, and will be sufficient for our tomorrows.  We know that we can do everything through you Lord, because you give us the strength to do so. We serve a mighty and powerful God.  We love you!  Amen.     God Bless you folks!

Wake Up!

     Romans 13:11 KJV says "And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed."   Our new life in Jesus is like the dawning of a new day, but many are still asleep spiritually.  It's time to wake up and realize we are living in the last days.  I don't think we really believe in the signs of His coming.  Again in Romans, Paul says in chapter 6:23 KJV "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."  We know that our salvation is through the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and we receive Him by faith.  But now that we have been reborn spiritually by His grace, we must not continue living in our old ways.  2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV says "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."  We are not going to get all to of these changes in one day however, with the help of the Holy Spirit we can receive a new beginning for change in our lives.  Folks, you have to work out, not work out for your physical body, but work out your salvation.  

     Take a look at Philippians 2:12 KJV, it says " Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling."  You as a believer in Christ will have to make a continuing effort to be obedient to Him in your daily living.  It's an active commitment to continue to renounce and put off all sin and replace it with righteous thinking with the help of the Holy Spirit.  We need the help of the Holy Spirit because we can't do anything without Him.

     Colossians 3:2-7 KJV says to "Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.  For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.  When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.  Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them."  Paul continues to talk about mortifying the flesh and the putting away of evil.  You see, we have to work out our salvation because that is what will be required of us to get to heaven.  

     Now that we are saved by the blood of Jesus, we must continue our walk of a progressive and sanctifying manner in the Holy Spirit.  Paul says in Philippians 3 from verses 12-17 that he just didn't arrive, he didn't get holy overnight, but that his desire was to press on, to strive, to stay in the race.  In other words he was actively and continually seeking to be Christlike.  He was working out his salvation.  This is more than just attending church on Sundays.  Jesus is not a religion but our way of life.  He is the way, the truth and the life.  Ephesians 5:14-18 KJV says " Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the the time, because the days are evil.  Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.  And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;"  Here Paul is letting us know that there are duties of the Christian life that we must attend to.   

     Brethren, we can't do all this with just a partial allegiance to Jesus Christ.   If you think you can live holy without the Holy Spirit, you are in trouble.  There are many who are thinking and living their own way.  It's called self righteousness.  Jesus says, And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?  Luke 6:46 KJV.  We are dealing with disobedience and being inconsistent to His Word.  It's time to wake up!  It's time to be living in the Lord.  He came not just to give us life but life abundantly.  Jesus is nearer to His coming than ever before.  He says in Revelation 22:20 KJV " Surely I come quickly.  Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus."  Are you ready?  We cannot be in a neutral zone,  we've got to be in Jesus all the way.  Wake Up!

Let God Love You!

     Today people are angry and frustrated with everything from the economy, to family, jobs, sickness and more.  Even Christians are angry, but what amazes me is that they are angry with God.  Excuses like, if God really loves me, then why am I in such a mess.  Why did my parents divorce?  Why this and why that?  We can come up with all kinds of things to say.  We must come to our senses and really think about what we are saying to God.  We can't reject our Lord, who is the highest source and understanding.  We need Him and always will.  If we really want to put our past behind us we have got to resolve our conflict against God.  You have got to confront God today and just be honest with Him about your anger, your feelings, your hostility.  Do not hold on to this old stuff any longer.  

     Listen to what David says about God in Psalm 77:7-15 (NIV)" Will the Lord reject forever? Will He never show His favor again?  Has His unfailing love vanished forever?  Has His promise failed for all time?  Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has He in anger withheld His compassion?  Then I thought, "To this I will appeal: the years of the right hand of the Most High."  I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.  I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.  Your ways, God, are holy. What god is so great as our God?  You are the God who performs miracles;  you display your power among the peoples.  With your mighty arm you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph." 

     David was upfront with God about his past, his problems, his angers, disappointments and confusions in his life.  This is an example for us to follow to not be afraid to be the same with God.  God will not hurt us when we are honest with Him, after all He knows exactly what our frustrations, our insecurities and unfulfilled needs  are all about.  Fess up!  He loves us so much!  Don't run from Him, but run to Him.  Psalm 147:5 says (KJV) " Great is our Lord, and of great power: His understanding is infinite."  Yes, He does understand us in everything we have gone through and everything we are going through now.  With the help of our Lord we can overcome the pains of our past and be blessed with the victories of tomorrow.  He will hear your call to Him right this moment.  Psalm 66: 19-20 says this " But verily God hath heard me: He hath attended to the voice of my prayer.  Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor His mercy from me."  What an AMAZING GOD whom we serve!

     Right now, at this moment, lift your voice unto God and speak to Him from your heart, He will listen, He will not turn you away.  Allow Him to  touch your heart, to heal you, to bless you, Let Him love you.  Love Him back.  He loves it.  And then thank Him, yes thank the Lord after that, thank Him again and then again.  Worship Him! Praise Him!  By now His presence should be all over you, I mean you should be in His loving arms.  Let God love you.   Psalm 16:11  (KJV) "Thou wilt shew me the path of life:  in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."

A New Beginning

     We all know of people, even ourselves, who have lived in the past.  Some who have lived with a memory of abortion, abuse, past addictions of alcoholism, drugs and so on.  At times, we may be constantly reminded of these past episodes we had in our lives, that it could become a burden and weigh us down.  However, God did not intend for us to live with these heavy burdens.  Instead he wants us to be freed up and live the life that He promised us, a life lived abundantly.

     So we go on wondering if there is a place somewhere, and somehow, we could get a fresh start at in life.  Well, it's not at Disneyland, or whatever land you may be thinking of.  We have got to understand that only God can help us overcome our past guilt, our shame and regrets.  He is the only one who can heal us of these wounds and brighten our today and tomorrows with a new beginning.  It doesn't matter how far back we go with these past miseries, God can restore us.  

     Our Lord takes care of any difficulties that are impossible for us to deal with.  Look what Apostle Paul says in Romans 8:1-4 (NIV) " Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.  For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering.  And so he condemned sin in sinful man in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be full met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit." 

     God can and is able to help us overcome our past with the direction and help of the Holy Spirit we can live an abundant life!  We do not have to live our days carrying the baggage of guilt, shame and secrecy.  1 Peter 5:7-8 says (NIV) "Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.  Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you."

     We have also got to understand that all the struggles we may have encountered with alcoholism, divorce, abortion, addictions, abuses and more, are all sins that are common to humanity.  So we are not alone.  We do live in a fallen world and we may fail but God is faithful and is always available to help pick us back up.  In 1 Corinthians 10:13 Paul says (KJV) "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above, that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."  

     So no matter how much of a mental struggle we deal with concerning our ugly past, just remember it's all common to the human race.  The Bible says that these are common to man, but God is faithful.  He is faithful to restore us, how?  Through His son Jesus Christ.  Hallelujah!  That is good news!  We can't do this on our own, we need and have the Lord Jesus to help us with our burdens.  II Samuel 22:2-3 says (KJV) "And he said, The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; The God of my rock; in Him will I trust: He is my shield, and the horn of my salvation , my tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence."

       OH!, just let me praise Him for a minute because He is so good!  So worthy of my praise!  He has been faithful to me for the forty seven years of my new beginning since 1969.  God is faithful, He will not hide His face from you.  He will show up when you think He will not.  Stop running, stop hiding, be open to Him so He can pour His grace all over you.  Let Him break those chains of the past and set you free.  He really does love us!  He will bless you and help you, He will give you a new beginning.  What He begins in you , He is able to finish.  Let's not continue to stay in the condition of  our past.  Wake up today ready for change and say enough is enough!  Move on with your new beginning in Christ.  His best in you is yet to come.  That is exciting news!  A new beginning! Wow!  May God Bless You BIG!

The Salt of The World

     In Matthew 5:13  (KJV) Jesus says that we are the salt of the earth.  When eating for example, a big bag of popcorn, the salt in the popcorn causes you to develop a huge thirst for water.  Well, the Lord wants us to be the salt in this world.  Why? So that the world would have a thirst for God.  How? Through Christians like you and I, praying for one another, loving one another, till our joy and love overflows and then begins to touch lives everywhere.  By doing good towards people so that they too will thirst for Jesus.  

     I remember when my brother first got saved, I noticed a sudden change in his attitude.  He was more at peace, his countenance expressed a genuine love that only can come from God.  Well, I wanted very much what he had.  I was thirsty for the Living Waters of Jesus to come and fill me also.  I desired that love, that peace, that joy of the Holy Spirit so much that I too gave my life to God. Then my whole life was changed when He filled me with His love and saved me.  

     When we are salty for Christ, we influence the world, we hinder the world of it's corruptive ways.  We also become active evangelists ignited by the Holy Spirit with salty power.  1 Thessalonians 1:5 says (KJV) " For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake."  Paul was empowered  by the Holy Spirit so much he influenced many people to God.  His preaching was powerful and effective, not only from the Gospel, but because he gave of himself.  He gave because of the love of God.  How can you not want what Paul had burning in his heart?  He was super-salty for God.  His holy influence had a tremendous impact on the earth.

     If you are truly a Christian, then you are called to be the salt of this earth.  We are here to cause people to thirst for Jesus, the Living Waters.  They will see God in our living.  So, let's be salty for Jesus and for the sake of the world that needs salvation through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  God Bless You!

The Ultimate Race

     I remember when I was a little boy, being raised near downtown San Diego, one of the things I enjoyed most was to run.  I would run the fastest I could around my block.  My first real race was at Roosevelt Jr. High school and guess what?  I won.  Next I joined the relay team at school and our team won.  I was proud that I was able to set a few records for the school.  In retrospect those were exciting times for me.  Much like those exciting times when I used to race, nothing compares to the excitement that I have in my spiritual race with Jesus Christ. 

     My Christian race has been a journey and it gets better and stronger throughout the years.  However, there have been some races that I have lost.  I realized in my journey with Jesus Christ that there were some things in the way.  I had to shed some spiritual weight, much of it being hindrances that stood in my way.  I was weighed down with pride, jealousy, self control, those were things that I had to let go of, if I was to continue in my race with God.  The Bible says in Hebrews 12:1 (NIV) "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."  

     I was good in those short sprints like the 50, 100 and 440 yard races but the race that I am in now is until I die, it is this long-distance race of my salvation experience with Jesus Christ.  You see, I have been and must still persevere in my sanctifying progress with the help of the Holy Spirit.  Through the Word of God and the Holy Spirit, my character is being trimmed off of the unwanted sins that hinders my race.  The Bible says that we are to lay aside those weights and sins that harass or trouble us.   Ephesians 4:22-24 says (KJV) "That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness." 

     What kind of stuff are we carrying that we can unload with the help of God?  What possessions do we have that seem to be idols in our way.  We have got to release our grip on things, positions, your plans etc.  We have got to empty self.  Let go of your control and let God control.  Galatians 5:7 says (KJV) " Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?            

     Watch out with what hinders us, there is so much of evil influences today that will slow you down and even make you drop out of the race.  Remember our Lord will never leave us alone in our race, because He is running along side of us.  Praise the Lord!  1st Corinthians 15:57 says (KJV) " But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." Stay encourage brothers and sisters to stay in the race and let God lead the way.

God is Calling

     I have never seen so many people, young and old, who are constantly on the phone throughout the day and throughout the night.  People pass me by with their ears pressed against their phones.  Heads are lowered as they walk through red lights at crosswalks.  Drivers look up and down not completely concentrated on where they are going on the road.  Our days are filled with so much business and distraction that we miss the call that really matters, the call from God.

     The psalmist says in Psalm 46:10 (KJV) "Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth."  I know that according to the book Ecclesiastes that there is a time and season for everything but we are talking about God, who loves us so much, that He desires to have an intimate relational talk with us.  

     How about giving God the highest reverence.  Let's take some quiet time, stop a while and surrender your ears and heart to Him.  I believe God wants us to receive his call everyday, to place His divine presence around us and to chat about the desires of our hearts.

     Brethren, we are so blessed with material objects and prosperity that may steal precious time away from listening to our Heavenly Father.  Isaiah in his youth says in Isaiah 6:8  (KJV) "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?  Then said I, Here am I; send me."  The enemy is always trying to cause a spiritual deafness upon us if we don't keep our hearts open to God's call.  Proverbs 8:4 (KJV) "Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man."

     What is your God-given call from God all about?  What is your passion in life?  You will never know unless you take the call from Him first.  Be still and know that He is God.  He is making His call to your heart. Do you hear His voice?  God Bless You.

Love One Another

      A huge element the early Christians possessed within themselves seems to be missing today.  The element I am talking about is love.  Not a worldly love but the love that comes from God, that helps us to love one another.  If we are a people that are truly committed to a deep and profound Spirit-led life with God, then we would as believers, express that same love towards one another.  It's not about loving each other out of convenience or out of obligation but about loving genuinely and freely from our hearts.  John 13:34-35 (KJV) says "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.  35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."  

     If you noticed, Jesus gave this as a "new" commandment.  It had been corrupted by old traditions however, Jesus renewed it.  Jesus says in John 14:15 (KJV) " If ye love me, keep my commandments."  So our love to one another as Christians must be obeyed, it must be freely given, and always ready to be shared with one another.  Jesus did the same for us all the way to the cross.  It wasn't the nails that kept our Savior to the cross,  it was His love for us that kept Him there until it was finished.  What an awesome and amazing love! 

     1 John 4:20 (KJV) says " If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar; for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?  And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also. 

     Today, neighbors no longer converse, parents are cruel to their children, children are cruel to their parents and nations are against nations.  We live in a lost and fallen world.   However, there is something we can do as children of the light.  We can restore our church identity as people who love, so that the world may know that we aren't just ordinary people but ordinary people who love because of God.   The world needs to not only hear the gospel but they need to feel and see our testimony of a Savior who loves and lives through us.  Why?   So that the unsaved will seek His love also.  John 4:8 (KJV) says "For God is Love." We must remember that we are the people God can use to show His love to those around us.  Let's Love One Another and be the light of the world!  Because God is Love!

Spiritual Fullness

     Do you hunger and thirst for God?  What I mean is, everyday since you believed and received Jesus Christ as Savior, do you hunger and thirst for Him?  Jesus said in Matthew 5:6 (KJV) "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled."  His Word is the only source that gives us life, not only here on earth but in the life to come with our Lord.

     When I first read this particular verse years ago, I totally realized in my heart that the only one who is going to satisfy my spiritual filling is God.  He said He would do so in His Word.  You have got to believe and receive this heavenly manna that can only come through His Word by faith.  So not only can Jesus save you but He also keeps you saved through His Word.  You will find that the real joy, the real peace and the real fulfillment of life can only come from an intimate relationship with God.  Psalm 34: 8 (KJV) says "O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him."  

     I know of many people who are having a miserable life because they look to the things of the world for satisfaction, but only to find out that nothing will satisfy but Jesus Christ.  An elderly sister we knew (who is with the Lord) was noted for her saying "You have got to know Jesus for yourself."  I believe that is so true.  Isaiah 45:22 says (KJV) "Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else."  That is the universal call of God, He is God, He is love, He is our provider, He will satisfy our hunger and thirst.  He is a big God.

     If you don't have a relationship with God, if you don't know Him today, then call on Him, speak from your heart and ask Him to fill your desire for Him.  He understands.  2nd Corinthians 6:2 (NIV) says- For He says "In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation."  

     So when do you get saved? Tomorrow, next month, when and if you turn 50, no and a thousand times no, God says now is the day.  Get filled today, but first you need to except Jesus in your heart as your Savior.  Confess your sins, repent and receive Christ now!  When you reach out to Him, He won't reject you but will forgive you and love you.  I will leave you with this verse from the Word of God in John 6:35 (KJV) "And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger;  and he that believeth on me shall never thirst."

Is the Holy Spirit in Charge?

     Have you been changing since you received Jesus Christ as Savior of your life?  I'm talking about being developed in your godly character.  Are you becoming more Christlike?  Let me share this scripture with you in Romans 12:1-2 KJV" I BESEECH you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this world:  but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

     The matter of concern here is that we cannot change or be transformed by our own strength.  Sure, you can attend church, do Bible studies, get involved with all kinds of ministries, but that's not enough.  The only way that we are going to get into a renewing of our mind is through the Word of God and with the dwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.  Remember that the Holy Spirit is not an "it" but the person of God living in you.  We can't change by our own fleshly means, God must be in control of your life.  Luke 17:33 KJV says "Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it." 

     So let's allow the Holy Spirit to have His way with us and not Satan.  I have learned in my salvation experience that I cannot live the Christian life in my own strength, you will constantly stumble, and will produce a fruitless life.  You can try harder, pray harder, preach harder but will eventually do ministry in "self".  Zechariah 4:6 KJV says  that " it's not by might, nor by power, but by the Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts."

      So let us understand that we are powerless to transform daily or do anything for God without the Holy Spirit.  He is essential for the renewing of our minds and for every aspect of life.   Are you struggling? Then surrender yourself to God and allow the Holy Spirit to take charge and give you a  life of freedom and fulfillment.  God Bless you and remember the best is yet to come in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior!

God Knows Our Needs

     Life can all of a sudden throw you a curve when things are going ok.  This world will bring some hard challenges and we wonder if God really understands how deep our need is.  But you know what?  He does know what we are going through in life, right down to every circumstance we confront, He knows our every need.  God is aware!  

     We are going to worry, fret, cry and stress out when these problems of life are going against us.  Just know that someone is hearing you, someone knows your pain, someone really cares and that someone is the mighty God we serve.   Psalm 40:1-2 (NIV) says "I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand."  Let's not worry and fear because God knows what we are going through, He hears and He does care about us.

     If you can just remember the wonderful things that God has done for you in the past you will see that He has been faithful.   He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, yes He is still healing, still providing, still leading, still fighting our battles, He is still loving you!  Wow!  What a great God He is.  Psalm 145:3 (NIV) says "Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom."  Brothers and sisters, God is greater than your needs, He knows them and He will provide for every one of them if we would just trust Him with all our hearts.  Why don't we thank Him today for no other reason but because He is God.  May God bless you all!

God's Amazing Grace

     Where would we be without a fresh start in life?  I would still have that old attitude of hostility and stagnant nature.  You know that you and I had no intentions of being saved, but because of His amazing grace and His huge love for us He will save us.  According to Jeremiah 29:11 KJV, the Bible says "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."  That is amazing to hear that from God.  

     I never knew anything about God's wonderful salvation plan until I heard the gospel preached at the age of 14.  Some how I was led from my home to attend a huge gathering of people in a stadium.  What I heard just amazed me, which was why Jesus came to this earth.  The preacher was Billy Graham and he preached the gospel of Christ with power and with love.  Four years later while at a small church,  I understood that I needed God's forgiveness in my life.  I just simply got out of the pew and ran to the altar, I knelt down on my knees and gave my life to Jesus.  Forty seven years later, He is still transforming my life.  Jesus says in John 14:6 " I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto my Father, but by me."  I am so blessed because of God's amazing grace.  Folks, today is the day of salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Created to Love God

    Genesis 1:26 KJV  " Let us make man in our image, after our likeness." The Bible also says that God is love.  Since He is love, then we have His love made into us by God.  So why were we created for?  Brethren, aren't we to love one another while we are on this earth?  Our most important mission in this life is to love and this is a commandment given to us by our Savior Jesus Christ.  John 15:17 NIV says" This is my command: Love each other."

     What happens if we don't obey this command?  Well, we will tend to live for ourselves.  We will then pursue what becomes our idols, which eventually draws our love away from God and from one another.  How can we not love God for what He has done for us?  He loves us so much and continues to bless us tremendously.  Deuteronomy 6:4-6 NIV says " Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.  Love the Lord your God with your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength." I pray that these commandments will be upon your hearts todays."  Wow!  God is so good all the time and all the time He is so good.  Brothers and Sisters, we were created to Love God.

He Lives!

     That wonderful day of Easter Sunday is just upon us, the day we celebrate our Lord and Savior's resurrection.  The only one who's conquered death and the grave, who holds the key to life and death.  He has made it possible that for anyone who believes in Him would have eternal life in heaven.  Isn't that glorious!?

   This day that we chose to celebrate is beyond celebrating. Why?  Because in reality we should be celebrating His resurrection everyday.  He now lives, He arose from the dead and the amazing part is that He lives in us as believers.  Paul says in Philippians 3:10-11 NIV "I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead."

    Everyday we are to know Jesus, not just on Sundays, but all the time.  In our journey with Him we are to progress in sanctification, we are to become like Him.  We are to continue to die to ourselves and allow Him to live in us.  This can only be done through the power of the Holy Spirit.  So let us not attend church just to look nice, but let us remember that our Savior shed His blood and died and that He arose the third day to give us life for ever with Him.   He is victorious over Satan, over evil and death.  Revelation NIV 5:12 says " Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!" He Lives! I said Jesus Lives!  Brothers and sisters in the Lord, let us celebrate Him everyday!  Hallelujah!

Grace and Sin

     My wife loves to garden and we see the wonderful flowers that bloom during the seasons.  We are starting to enjoy the fruit of lemons, tangerines and some oranges that she planted as young trees a few years ago.  She has worked hard watering and fertilizing these plants and trees to enjoy their colors when they bloom and give off fruit.  What tires her out the most is the constant uprooting of weeds that seem to never end.  If she were to stop weeding out her garden then wildflowers would appear and would take over the beauty of the real flowers.

      Sins is like weeds to our minds and hearts. We know that God's grace abounds for the forgiveness of sins, but Paul tells us also in Romans 6:12 that "What shall we say then?  Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?  By no means!  We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?"  We are blessed with grace but that doesn't mean we are allowed to continue to sin.  As Christians we must do the work of the spiritual gardener and weed out the sins of our hearts.  We then nurture our minds with prayer, worship, and His word.  God loves a beautiful garden within us and provides enough grace to maintain it's beauty for His glory.  Isaiah 58:11 reads "The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame.  You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail."  To God be the glory!

Progressing Through Adversity

     James 1:2-4 says that we are to "count it all joy" when we encounter trials, because these tests of our faith produces endurance and perfects us.    So when we go through some hard times, some misfortunes in life it will either harden our hearts or it will soften our hearts.  It's up to our choosing which way we will turn.  However, we don't want to resist God during these times because He wants to teach us to rely on Him for everything.  It is His way of preparing us and equipping us for better things to come.  

     For sure our relationship with God will become even stronger as we go through our journey in this world.  God will see us through for He is faithful.  Romans 8:28 says KJV "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."  So whatever reason we go through these trials we must believe that God has a wonderful purpose why He allows adversity to confront us.  We must progress for the Kingdom of God.  His best is yet to come.  Amen!
